Selecting Heating for your Marquee

Marquees and gazebos have become increasingly popular in Britain, being used for weddings, corporate events, birthdays and other special occasions. Marquees as easily adapted to any occasion using lighting, flooring, colour, size and position. They are perfect for outdoor events where the weather may be unreliable or where a specific atmosphere needs to be achieved.

Many people overlook the use of heating in Marquees and focus on more visual aspects such as flooring, furniture and colour. However, heating is essential, especially if your special occasion runs into the night or is during a period of cold weather.

Heating is especially important to ensure your guests are comfortable. A variety of heating styles are available but it is important to do your research to find a heater with no negative features that can effectively heat your venue.

Infra-red halogen heaters can be hired across the UK and are of high standard, offering dry heat with no condensation, no smell and no excess gas fumes which may dampen the party atmosphere. Heaters can be attached to legs of the marquee however, a more effective style attaches to the centre uprights of the marquee to provide even heating

Here are some tips for heating your marquee:

Testing- try out your heating inside the marquee several days before the event to make sure it works well for the space
Position of heaters – ensure the heaters are pointing towards areas that people will be situated in. Do not position so heat may be lost out of doors or where people will not be.
Season – look up weather forecasts for the date of your special occasion. If it is going to be cold then heaters may need to be switched on constantly throughout the event. If it is going to be warm then the heater may only need to be used at the start and end of the event to maintain the optimum temperature.
Number of heaters – several smaller heaters tends to be more effective than one large heater at creating a consistent temperature throughout the marquee.

MM Hire has local operators all over the UK that can provide excellent heating services for your marquee.

Flooring for your Marquee

Marquees are a wonderful addition to your special event that guard against any unwanted weather as well as providing an excellent atmosphere tailored to your own specific taste. When selecting the place to situate your marquee there are several things to consider. The ground ideally should be level, especially if furniture is being used, as well as not prone to flooding to avoid problems that could ruin your event.

When it comes to selecting marquee flooring, there are many options you can choose depending on the nature of the event you are holding. The flooring needs to be stable and offer good protection to the underlying lawn/ground. Different effects can be created depending if you want a stylish, comfortable, practical or attractive look and there are many marquee hire specialists, such as MM Hire, who work nationally and can help you select which flooring is best for you.

Coconut Matting is an example of standard flooring that is commonly used in marquees. Whilst it is practical and effective it is often accompanied by an unattractive smell that makes alternative flooring more viable. An alternate carpet is MM Mat that is as hard wearing as coconut matting as well as being flame retardant and waterproof. This sort of flooring is ideal for hard surfaces such as patio or decking. The simple style means that it can be used for a wide range of events.

More tailored floorings include:

MM Wood – suitable for events where an elegant style is more appropriate such as weddings, christenings and other special occasions.
Sheet flooring – more appropriate for fairs, catering areas or county shows where the style is not of optimum importance.
Dance flooring – relatively new and increasingly popular. For use when a dance floor and bar are to be located inside the marquee.

MM Hire are nationwide marquee specialists that offer flooring to compliment any event requirements!
